After a quick breakfast we went straight to the arena. There we had the first 5 qualifying matches today. Our goal is to finish in the top 32, which would give us the best chance of advancing further. But we will be happy for any results and we came to the finals to participate rather than to win. The first game was straight up one of the more successful ones, we racked up a respectable number of points and shot our entire alliance to a total of 85, setting our alliance's best result to date and settling us into a comfortable 11th place. Of course, we lost that right away, but the comfortable feeling of a high position continued to warm us. After a couple of embarrassing losses and technical problems, our spirits were lifted by what was undoubtedly our best game of the season, perhaps ever. Our robot alone scored a record 50 points in a game where just about everything went right. For our alliance, it was 117 points, plus a full scoreboard points including an "encore" for scoring 21+ game elements and a bonus for exemplary climbing. This match will be a shining example for years to come of what fifteen high school students in a workshop in an old art room could create for a world-class piece of engineering with a few old team parts from Breck, support from PORG and sponsors, and most importantly, lots of hard work and afternoons and weekends of work. The 22-point automatic stage continues to be a championship contender, and our original shooting and climbing design did not disappoint once again. Robot Honza is simply a hard worker and now the audience of ten thousand people from the stadium's stands saw it.
