Week 6

After a longer pause, we are back with yet another weekly report. However, we have been posting photos during the past weeks, just check out our social media.

The 6th week of building the robot started with confirming a sponsorship deal with SCS Software. Thanks to this and one more sponsorship from ECOM, we are able to enhance our lab equipment.

On Thursday, we continued programming and upgrading the robot as it is at the moment. The programmers worked on autonomous functions of the system while the mechanics were getting the robot ready for a motor change (which are unfortunately stored in the U. S.). Furthermore, we fixed our 3D printer, which was out of order for over a week due to malfunctioning extruder.

On Saturday, our school held an open house, which lowered our productivity, we started working on a very important part of the climber regardless of the situation. It is a huge 1:752 gearbox, which will allow us to swing the whole robot on the bars, which should gain us more points during the endgame of the match. What's more, we created a couple of concepts for a mechanism that would help us intake the balls more easier.

On Sunday, we finished the gearbox mentioned above and we worked on placing the camera on the robot, so that the driver can see as much of the field as he can - especially those parts hidden behind large structures. Unfortunately, we found a problem that we hoped we solved for good. Our Prusa Research 3D printer has stopped working and a major rebuild will probably have to follow. Considering that our progress is depending on the use of 3D printing technology, we had to immediately order 2 new 3D printers - this time Ender 3 v2. Next week, we will assemble them and get them to keep up the time we lost with a broken printer.
